To be fair, we've got a decent track record when giving former troubled players off-field roles. Long has done okay for himself, and Gleeson is proving to be very good in his new role. BG seems to have turned his life around and I think he can provide something to current players. The trouble with a lot of RL fans is that once an opinion is formulated it can't possibly be changed.

I cant make any sense of this appointment whatsoever. What capacity is Goulding even coming on board in? I thought Iestyn had a bad CV when he was offered the head coach position, but Bobbie Goulding' is even worse.
Would any of Leeds, Saints, Wigan or Warrington make this appointment? No they wouldn't.

Just had a look at Bobbie Gouldings Twitter page and some of the retweets from Salford fans are cringeworthy. These new-age fans we've got, seem to think the pre requisite of a good coach is one that a) use to play for Salford, b) tweets A LOT and c) replies to tweets A LOT.
It's actually embarrassing. I haven't seen one tweet mention what Bobbie Goulding will bring to our club other than "passion" and we all know passion alone will win us the Super League wont it. 
It just sounds like another lunatic joining the asylum. |
