Powell was decent at times tonight but his defensive ability is nothing in comparison to McIlorums.

I suggest we recall Hampshire from Castleford.

How will recalling Hampshire solve Powell's defensive ability at 9?

Recalling Rocky gives us options. It opens the opportunity of Williams to share 9 with Powell, or Smith drop in to 9.

We are desperate for a spark in attack. The coaches stifling tactics are no help, and his "let's get um running through t'wall for t'town" preseason mentality rather than coaching rugby clearly leaving us badly underprepared.............again.

I've avoided slagging Wane off, however the end of last season and the start of this really has frustrated me. Lots of effort but no craft at all, it's like watching a Noble team we are that obvious.

It's history repeating itself. We have some talented players. They aren't showing it to their full potential. Same as under Noble. I think this has been true rather longer than the end of last season though.

I think fans need to think a little bit more seriously about some of the timescales which are provided by the medical staff.

One of the major hurdles any player faces after suffering such a bad injury is rebuilding confidence.

The specialist telling him the [i"joint is as good as new"[/i etc. is one thing. But it's quite another for him to KNOW it in his mind.

Factor in the alarming increase in post-operative infections (largely through antibiotic resistant bacteria), relapses etc. etc. and you can pretty much guarantee that the player won't return to the form which was holding down the jersey for twice as long.

I'm not saying McIlorum won't play again this year. But I'd be astonished if he returned to full form in three months.

I don't think he will either as I don't think Wigan will rush him back regardless of the medical situation which would normally see you or me toddling off back to work if the medics said we were good to go but the last thing McIlorum lacks is self belief and confidence.

I think we should go for Bob Beswick on loan, he's a great pair of hands and he's one of ours, think he could do a job short term.

Not sure Micky Mac has been in the sort of form we know he's capable of,so maybe just maybe this injury while awful will do him good in the long run,though i suspect given how nasty that looked when i watched the game after getting home i'd be amazed if he gets back to full match fitness this season.
