Apologies if I have missed this but what are they building at the front end of LSV?

Noticed the JCBs etc there today on one of my rare excursions down the bypass.

Presumably, quite a small one, as there doesn't seem much room there. Will it have its own car park or use the rest of LSV?

Don't see how it can compete with Asda and Sainsbury's, though less traffic hassle if coming from Lowton direction.

Tesco, I think. They were going on the LSV but wanted land that would have taken up half the stadium, I heard!

Yeah Tesco it is, I drove past on Sunday and they have a board saying, store opening soon, restaurants and a cinema also, theres an artists impression of what it will look like, doesnt look too bad at all, I'm the first to criticise Leigh, but the future isnt looking too bad at all.

Not surely it's really necessary to have what will then be seven supermarkets (Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrison's, Tesco, Lidl, Aldi, Netto) for a place the size of Leigh, but I'm sure they wouldn't be building them if they couldn't make any money. We'll be needing a bypass for the bypass though!

I`d much prefer the option of having all the major supermarket chains in Leyth, than what we had years ago .....Leo`s and 4ck all else and Leo`s usually charged what they wanted with no competition.

I wasn't much of a shopper at the time so I'll take your word for it



No doubt at all that all these supermarkets aren't exactly helping the cause of our town centre, though at least Tesco and the development around there will direct traffic and shoppers further towards town.
