What a surprise this morning to read that Morgan Knowles has signed a new 4 year contract with Saints. Undeniably the best player in Super League, it's a real shock that he's decided to stay here as he must have had some huge offers from the NRL.
With Newman signing on at Leeds to when he could easily have moved to a big Super League club, Union or the NRL is it a positive sign for Super League? Or just the individual circumstances of these two players meaning they didn't want to go to the NRL at this moment?

Possibly, but time is on his side. If they keep players like him they might eventually be competitive in the play offs. |

Next year brings up half a century since saints beat Leeds in a major final by my reckoning.. |

Not really the most relevant stat is it. Saints haven't beaten Halifax in a major final in a while either.
It's interesting how many are interpreting me saying Newman could have signed for a big SL club as a dig at Leeds? |

We’ve a fair number of young players coming through the clubs systems now, what we need to do now is reduce the quota on the amount of overseas players and think more mid-long term.
Some clubs seem to have this turn around of players that effects stability of clubs, our scholarships and academies need decent pathways to transition into the Championship and Superleague. |

Those awards are a complete joke. Tomkins got a bit of hype from Sky after Catalans won a few games. In all seriousness the MOS and the best player in the league by a distance is Alex Walmsley, we all know that. Knowles is the best 13 in SL. |
