| While there is no doubt he is in form and doing well, does anyone else think people are making a bit too much of the guy?
Bobbie Goulding posted a tweet today saying they should look after him because he can do things no one else can, or something to that effect anyway, and people are talking about an England call up.
Really?
I mean he has scored some great tries but nothing never seen before, and defensively I wouldn't judge him to be all that much better than other wingers, although granted I wont have seen as much of him as Saints fans.
So, thoughts? All the praise and more warranted, or maybe being a bit premature?

| What i have seen of Saints this year on TV he has impressed me everytime.Has everything to go a long way in the game.If he continues in the same form for the rest of the year he has to be considered for internatioal honours for sure.
So yes, IMO the praise is warranted.

| Can finish things that no one else in the league can. Any defender is foolish to show him the outside 5m out at this point. Very rarely drops a kick to his wing and is generally totally reliable. Gets through a good amount of the grunt work too.
He perhaps lacks the physicality of traditional best English wingers (hall, charnley briscoe) but I've never seen him over powered.
Occasionally seen him have positional issues - but I question how much that's to do with turner inside him, and his kick positioning needs a little polishing (this will come when wellens hangs up his boots and coaches full time imo) - he's got a way to go to be a complete winger, but he top of the try charts for a reason, and if he keeps it up, I see no reason why he couldn't be included in international consideration. Lomax too.

| I understand Makinson was part of Leigh's scholarship prior to the RFL closing it

| He's great to watch as a neutral. I've wondered whether there's a certain amount of showboating going on with his borderline swandives into the corner, but it looks good I'll give him that.

| Hopefully his form will continue to improve, I just think it's a bit OTT at the moment, I'm sure Tez O'Connor said something about him being the best finisher in the world, which I will be honest I found a bit laughable after watching some NRL games.
The point about his size/physicality is a good one, cant imagine he would be coming out on top against some wingers, but we will see.

| Media always work on the Hype.
He has got through that second season syndrome that knocks out a lot of players. Personally I'm not overly concerned whether he plays for England. If he keeps up his form for Saints then anything else is down to the England coach.
To be he is a slow improver as opposed to someone who bursts onto the scene.
He still has Hall and Charnley and Briscoe in front of him as it's down to the incumbent to lose the shirt and there be someone behind to take it off them.
Strength in depth is a great thing to have, the more the merrier.

| Good player on good form. I have no doubt he will be considered for England but he has a lot of competition.

| Charnley said in his MEN column that he and the other Wigan wingers would be given a dressing down by Wane if they tried to put the ball down one handed in the way Makinson does. I think that is absolute rubbish if true from Wane. It is a skill Makinson has developed to fall in line with the rules being changed around touching the corner flag and he's using that to his advantage. If Makinson goes with two hands for all his try's this year he doesn't score half of them and it's refreshing to watch a player display that amount of skill.
He's still got work to do on his alround game but his finishing is outstanding.

| Tricky decision on who should be England wingers as we've hit quite a purple patch with them ATM. A little over 10 years ago we had the likes of Karl Pratt, Lee Gilmour, Richard Horne and Paul Johnson all start for us on the wing.

yet super league is in decline, in reality English players are getting better and that can only be assisted by less imports.
