| Of the 'golden trimumvarate' I have always recently being of the opinion Danny was the most dispensable. I am pleased to say this season to date he has proven me wrong. Whether it is because he is not playing second fiddle to Kevin I don't know, but he is really running the show well behind a dominant pack and I marvel at and appreciate the skills shown in some of his cut out exquisite passes. He is still showing that fabulous support instinct even if sometimes his pace isn't quite there to finish them to the same past degree.

he's OOC this year and I think they will offer him more than one year even though he's coming up to 33

Yep, I've been pleasantly surprised myself, and he's stepped up his game a couple of notches. Being of a cynical turn of mind I was going to enquire when his contract was up, but the previous poster answered that.

| He's been superb this season. Absolutely superb. Two of his long passes that led to tries yesterday were a joy.

| It's a great pity he had those bad injuries a few years ago especially the one at Wigan it cost us a GF place and impeded his game when he came back

| For me. I'll always wonder what might have been with McGuire had he not had his injury problems. His pace from 10 years ago coupled with the skills his developed over the last 5 years would've seen him become a consistently outstanding test player IMO. He's still a superb player and in many ways has been underrated for a long time.

| Whilst the big injury he suffered certainly speeded up the deminishing of his pace, I think due to age he would've started to lose a bit of pace eventually anyway.
I think also the last couple of seasons he had a few other injuries he's had to cope with (didn't he break an ankle at Hull in 2013?). I remember the 2013 playoff win against Saints where we won 11-10, he really struggled physically and looked injured but he still managed to pop up with the winning one-pointer. Last year I can't imagine that his ribs had healed from Wembley in time for the playoffs.
One thing I like about McGuire is that he will always be involved and will always keep trying. Some halfbacks you can watch for 80 mins and forget they were on the pitch, not the case with McGuire imo. Doesn't always go for him, I recall a home match last year (against Widnes I think) where we won comfortably and things were coming off for other players but not for McGuire, but he kept trying and trying and trying to make something happen.
One thing mentioned about yesterday's game was that the halves messed up some chances but I can live with that providing they keep trying....because the reality is not everything is going to work out for you as a halfback and you'll make wrong calls or options in games.

They were, he has been the best half i have seen so far in the comp this year bar maybe Kelly at KR.It seems he is revelling being the main man and proving he can step up to do that.I too have been a bit critical of Danny in recent times but i am willing to eat my words and say give him another deal, he will be important for us next few years.

Kelly? I'm not sure about him. He's come up with a few good trys, but his all round contribution hasn't been that great. Campese has been the real star for Rovers so far IMO.

I was so peed off with Sinfield about that one. He should've drilled the ball out of play, but I think tried to get a repeat set with only a couple of minutes left and Wigan spread the ball out to the opposite side and left McGuire taking one for the team.

Carmont'sfault really for being so bloody slow. Might opening up a can of worms here but I watched that back at slow speed and what happens is, Mcguire being faster catches up with the slower Carmont and steps on the back of his boot which then messes up his next step which knackers up his knee. As he falls he reaches out and pulls Carmont down......a thought out deliberate move? Or just an instinctive move when you've got that pain going through you knee? Let's face it, Carmont wasn't going to beat McGuire to the line with 60m to go (hell he probably wouldn't have made it to the 40m mark) so he didn't need to do it.
