i tonight was stood with my mates who are fans of our great club and they brought their friend with them who is a leeds fan. all through the game he stood with us and took the banter all game with good heart and even had a laugh about it. when leeds scored the try in the last minute what happened from a group of our fans was disgusting. a few of them ran up to him threw beer bottles at him and was even attacked by a couple of our fans. this is needless pointless behaviour and i find it disgusting that this has happened. its not his fault that wakefield lost and our own fans taking it out on him was disgusting. it got so bad he had to be escorted out by a steward. this behaviour has left me disgusted and shocked. as a club we have had a terrible 12 months and all fans from the rugby league family have stood by us. now this shows how quickly good deeds and togetherness can be forgotton. even worse my mates girlfriend who is a wakey fan is currently in an ambulance on the way to A and E after hurting her neck in this incident. all i can say is shocked and appalled the result wasnt the fans fault and that was undeserved. i understand tempers flare myself i was seething but still i didnt try to batter the first leeds fan i saw.

Disappointment should never develop into violence.

The crucial point you make is beer bottles. It was the same at Cas the other week. If we are a family game, we have to think about banning drinking in the stands. That would annoy me, as I like a pint at those games when I am not in the car, but too many people are seeing games as excuses to get drunk and troublesome.

A few people have hqd too much to drink and spoilt a good night for everyone.

the upsetting thing is this is happening all too often. i like a drink as a lot of people do but there is a time and a place. but it would be unfair to stop sellin alcohol to those who can and do drink responsibly. action needs to be taken immediately and ban the idiots we do not need them in our game.

Hearing about that kind of behaviour by Wakey 'fans' is even more disappointing than losing the match

i couldnt agree more it made defeat feel even more bitter

the culprits were pointed out to a steward but he didnt seem bothered he was just concerned that we stayed off the pitch. a lot of stewards seem to have this laxsidasical attitude. better stewarding would help halt these problems i believe.

Also is it me or have these problems only emerged over the last couple of seasons. im sure a few years back these problems were so rare nowadays it feels like every other game.

Every club has it's moronic element and it's a shame when something like this occurs.

The good far outweigh the bad though and it's good that the idiots are condemned by the decent folk on here.
