Ryan Bailey and Chris Clarkson playing for Hunslet in Championship 1 ought to be the last straw leading to the abandonment of what has become the dual registration farce.
www.sportinglife.com/rugby-leagu ... ce-hunslet
The way it was supposed to work is as below.
But the whole integrity of the RFL's competitions is now being undermined.
From 2015, all clubs in Super League and the Championship should be required to run an Under 21 team (with up to 5 of the named 17 allowed to be over age).
[i "The purpose of this Rule is to provide an enhanced Player development pathway for young Super League Players who are not thought to be ready to make the step up to Super League first team on a permanent basis but for whom first team match experience in the Championships is likely to be beneficial for their development. It is intended to provide additional flexibility for Clubs to make arrangements that suit the Player’s development needs whilst protecting both the playing squad requirements of the Clubs concerned and the integrity of both competitions"[/i

Don't be stupid.....
...he's 30.
By the way, this whole farce has come about because of the RFL scrapping the U21s so they knew this was coming. Some players don't even get going until their 20s so the fact you have to offer a contract or let go a player at 19 is ridiculous and damaging to the sport IMO.

Some, badly run SL clubs.
Meanwhile, well-run clubs get caught in the cross-fire and end up resorting to things like this. Leeds tried to get Kylie Leuluai playing there last season before UKBA reminded them about his visa conditions. We've also had Lee Briers playing at Swinton.
When you let the tail wag the dog, stuff like this happens. I'm sure Leeds would much rather Ryan Bailey play in their own reserve grade side this week, working alongside Leeds' future players, than have him on-loan against C1 part-timers.

I'm pretty sure Leeds voted for the current system.

| This isn't the first such instance of established first teamers going out on DR. Quite a few occurred last season with the most prominent probably involving Warrington and Swinton with the likes of Briers turning out for Swinton against fellow strugglers. End result being Swinton just about avoided the drop (Hunslet went down but were using players from Leeds last year, they would have had Kylie Leuluai on DR last year had he been British).
There was also a fair bit of an issue over some of Warrington's youngsters who reportedly signed for Swinton during last season allowing the Lions to play about 8 Warrington players in games including extra DR players on top of those they had reportedly signed. Most if not all are now once again at Wire, one of those while supposedly having signed for Swinton even had a loan spell at London Broncos arranged by Tony Smith (the player said this to the press when the loan happened) which was reported as him being on loan to London from Warrington. That was much more farcical than this situation.
Under the current situation where else do Bailey and Clarkson have to play if not in the Leeds first team? It's Hunslet or nowhere. Gil Dudson and Jordan James from my club played for Workington last week, it's the same situation as this one but nobody bothered to write an article about that arrangement that's all. The current system is far from perfect but it is what the clubs have to deal with. The scrapping of the under 20s and disallowing of over age players in under 19s games were foolish and short sighted decisions. As someone else already posted hopefully both will be very soon reversed. I'm not sure how compatible DR is with the new structure anyway.

| The game has created its own "monster" by scrapping the senior academy's and by reducing the career prospects of any wannabe RL players.
There is plenty of talk about marquee signings and golden tickets but we should reinstate the senior academy before thinking about this.
There is o point in fighting to retain the games stars, if we are preventing the stars of tomorrow from developing.

First time seasoned full-time professional Super League players 'loaned' to a Third tier club. How can Hunslet afford it anyway?

really? jake webster has played for york already this season plus a few who have played in york u20's, whats wrong with leeds giving game time to 2 players who aren't making the team. i know people knock dual reg but i don't see too much of a problem with it, it allows players coming back from injury or not getting first team action to get some game time under their belt it also help lower league clubs to add a few quality players to their team especially when suffering injuries. obviously an u21's or something similar would be better but at the moment dual reg is the best we have so i don't see a problem with teams using it fairly.

| A bit of a one-eyed view that. No consideration for London Skolars (away at Hunslet this week)?
